To the Editor:

The Bristol Historical Society lost one of its most beloved and valued members this Monday, Sept. 8, with the passing of Jean Bradley. A life-long member of Forestville, Jean was a founding member of the organization and was recognized in 2013 at our annual dinner for over 40 years of service. She was also designated as Volunteer of the Year in 1996. Jean served as nominating committee chairperson for many years. She also served most of her career with our organization as a member of the Board of Directors. This year she was named the first “Emeritus Director” of the Board! This year Jean got to see the installation of our current roof replacement; a project she considered so crucial to our future development!

Jean was beloved by all that knew her. She always displayed a constant smile, positive nature, a genuine concern for those surrounding her and a willingness to give her time and energy to any activity. She expected nothing in return, except to see the endeavor successfully and enjoyably completed!

Jean loved family. Those acquainted with her quickly knew that her family was the most important aspect of her life. She loved Forestville and would reminisce about her former days in “The Village.” Jean not only volunteered with the Bristol Historical Society, but also enjoyed her association and efforts with several other organizations including 4-H.

Jean now rests within the loving arms of our Lord. He must be saying, “Jean, a job well-done and a life well-lived!  Welcome to my home.”
